On Saturday, January 17 at 2:00 PM, three churches—Centennial Missionary Baptist
Church, Covenant Church, and LaGrange Christian Church—will gather at Covenant
Church, LaGrange for a special MLK Weekend community worship service.
This gathering is for children and grandparents, students and seniors, long-time
church members and first-time guests—all coming together as one family in Christ.
As we worship, remember, and reflect, we do so under the theme “Dreaming with the
Dreamer.”
Together, we will honor the life and witness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., remembering
his dream while also listening for how God continues to invite each generation into a
shared future shaped by justice, shared mission, and love.
The service will include uplifting music, sacred dance, memories of Dr. King’s
message, a special children’s message, and a biblical reflection on unity in Christ
offered by Pastor George Trinn. Through word, movement, and song, we will reflect on
how the life of Christ calls us to push aside divisions and live as one body.
Following the service, everyone is invited to stay for a time of fellowship and
desserts—a space to share stories, laughter, and connection across generations.
Earlier in the day, youth from our congregations will serve together by preparing care
packages for individuals experiencing homelessness, reminding us that dreaming
with the Dreamer also means acting together in shared mission.
